great step--easy to install [2018 f250 Ford] Made it easier to get in and out of the bed of this truck. Highly recommend-- quick shipping [2 days]

by:

Step was difficult to pull out and I didn’t have anything to hold onto!!

by:

It works great, just don't forget it's there, I used it to get in the bed the first time and got off my tailgate I forgot to use it, hit my shin nice welt. But if you actually use it, it works. So just don't forget like I did.

by:

So far this product installed just as described and looks heavy duty enough to last.

by:

Fast shipping. Perfectly fits and sturdy on my 2025 Honda Ridgeline Trailsport. Customer service fast response. Thank you

by:

Being a old guy this helps a lot.

by:

I have been looking for a long time for a better way to step into my 10' truck camper. This is perfect.

by:

Works great. It won't go all thye way in because of the spare tire.
Will be loading my camper next week so will see if it makes a perfect first stamp into the camper. A picture will fallow.

by:

Not for use on 2011 Ford F250 short bed trucks. The step cannot be slid inward for storage because the extension arm collides with the spare tire and will not lock in the stowed position. The arm is several inches too long. Other than this, the step is well made and the design is well thought out.

Enclosed are pictures of my awesome Hitchmate truckstep.I love it!

Great product for a reasonable price - works as advertized and very strong. Etrailer's customer service was beyond compare - an email was sent to me at every step of the shipping process, and they upgraded me to a superior shipping speed at no extra cost. Great company to deal with and great pricing.

This is a quality piece, for sure, will do the job as intended. I didn't use it in the conventional way, I needed a step on the side of my aluminum-bodied 2017 Ford F250, so I had to make a customized weldment-bracket modification to my truck, and came up with what you see in the photo.

by:

Working well for me. Durable and high quality. I’m glad I found you online.

I liked the Heininger HitchStep so well on my 2018 RAM Quad Cab and use it so often that when I decided to get a 2019 RAM Regular Cab (with 8' bed), I wanted another one of these hitch steps on it...and if I want to tow, it goes off and later back on in just a minute. These are very well made products, but I do recommend the locking HitchMate Threaded Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock as other people like these steps too, and I want to keep mine! It makes it much faster and easier for me (age 68 retiree) to continue to do substantial work with my trucks, like hauling a queen size bed and frame to the recycle center today and plywood sheets on the back haul home. I've also found etrailer.com to be excellent to deal with, very fast to ship, and got my second hitch here in great shape. I would have bought my first hitch step here too had I only known about them then!

After a year on both of my Dodge RAM 1500’s I don’t know how I could have gotten along without them. At nearly 70 now, I routinely pull it out to clear the tailgate, the tailgate, and walk right up into the bed with both arms full. It’s very steady I used an extra nut to tighten the locking hitch pin tighter and is a perfect length to clear the tailgate when down. It’s still very fast and easy to swap out for a trailer hitch on the rarer occasions I need to do that, but I use these steps just about every time I use my truck. If you don’t have steps built in on your truck these are just about essential for fast, easy, safe use. etrailer was a great source: they had it at a great price, shipped fast, and delivered a great product.

I have been looking for a unit like this to be able to get in my Chevy 2500 HD. I grew up in times where the trucks were close to the ground but these new ones are extremely high and I am a short person. I always go to etrailer on items like this. This item works fantastic. I love the way you can drop this big tail gate and have this unit out and it comes out so you can step on it and right up on the tail gate. Even with the tail gate up you can have the step down and makes it so much easier to step up to the rear bumper and on into the bed. I just wish I would have had this sooner. The quality looks good and is easy to slide in and out and move the step up and down. I will let you know how it holds up later on. Also I have the big 10 ply TransForce tires on my truck and a spare. This unit had about 1inch clearance between it and the spare. It worked fantastic. I would have sent a picture but I do not know how to do all of these modern items like that.

The unit is still working like new and it still looks fantastic. This is one of the best items I have bought because of the safety part of it. Getting up in the bed of my 2500 HD is so easy. Thanks for a good product.

by:

Works as advertised and received quickl y.

by:

Extremely well made. I used my locking hitch pin for security. The step when it is extended from the recommended installation position of closet to the tailgate is slightly too short. However if you move the pin to the rear hole when stopped it is perfect. It is just what I was looking for (easy install) at the right price.

I use the step extensively . I use the step a lot. There is an added benefit it acts as a bumper.

by:

I ordered and installed the HitcMate HE 4045 on my 2011 Chevy Colorado crew cab Z71. It performed well and was easy to install. The long tubing cleared the spare tire by quite a few inches when fully retracted under the truck bed which was my main concern. Had to work it a few times to get the hang of opening and closing up the platform...

This product has helped me tremendously in stepping into the bed of my truck. I am a short person and this product is excellent. Product is manufactured with great stability with quality machining. Thanks for having a truck step like this that extends out to clear the tailgate when it is in the down position.

Excellent I use it a lot and great product

by:

The idea is good. The problem is the position in the middle of the tailgate. Didn't solve my problem of getting up onto the tailgate. It's too hard to just step up without having something to hold onto. I seldom use mine.

I dont use it. Didnt solve my problem of stepping up onto the tailgate. Too hard to use without being able to hold onto the side of the truck.

by:

Raising and lowering the pad is a little trickey but definitely makes it easier getting in and out of the truck bed once you master the pad motion. Mounted to a Chevy Avalanche and the 2nd mounting position is needed because of the size of the tailgate as it moves the pad further away from the tailgate when the gate is down. As usual etrailer is an excellent supplier with very fast delivery, keep up the good work.

by:

This is a very clever item for my RV with a rear door. If I stop along the highway, I don't have to set out my large portable stair to gain a comfortable entry. One down side is that it becomes the lowest item on my truck and scrapes the pavement occasionally, wherever there is a dip, such as entering a driveway. As a result of the scraping, I expect it will rust eventually.

  • How to Determine if HitchMate Receiver Mount TruckStep Will Fit 2020 Ford Expedition Max Platinum
The HitchMate TruckStep Extendable, Hitch Mounted Step, # HE4045 fits most vehicles but you will want to take some measurements to be certain it fits your 2020 Ford Expedition Max Platinum. First measure from the center of the hitch pin hole to the where the end of our telescoping rail will set. This will be about 19-1/2", see the attached image and note the linked product video. Where the hitchstep mounts to the receiver, there is a 1-5/8" gap. Please note other options such as the...

That will really depend on how long you are needing the step to be. All of the hitch steps we offer are designed for 2" receivers, so to be able to use one of these with the 2-1/2" receiver on your 2018 Ram 2500 I first recommend the Brophy Hitch Reducer and Extender # HR26 which will give you an extra 7" of extension. This extension has a max tongue weight capacity of 500lbs or reduces the capacities of your hitch by 1/3rd, which ever is lower but since your truck is a 2500 you should...

To determine if the extendable hitch step # HE4045 will fit your 2012 Chevy Silverado you will have to take some measurements. Measure from the bottom of your hitch receiver down 1-5/8 inches. Then from that point measure back up to 22-1/2 inches. If there are no obstructions in that area and you have a 2 inch receiver then you can use the step. I have included a picture that should help.
